Huang Tiange (Chinese: 黄天戈; pinyin: Huáng Tiāngē; born November 26, 2004, Beijing, China) is a Chinese pianist and child prodigy. ==Biography== Huang Tiange was named the recipient the 2013 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, and the 2013 ASCAP Plus Award Winner. About Huang Tiange, Lang Lang said, “He is definitely a very special one, he is really talented. I think he is really excellent, full of personality! With more personality than I do, much more so.” That year, Huang Tiange was seven years old. Huang Tiange is a famous Chinese music prodigy. After his TV show debut at age seven, he has been known by hundred million Chinese people as a young composer and pianist. He was born into a famous family of artists in Beijing on April 16, 2004. He began his musical training at the age of three, and has excellent absolute pitch at a very early age. At the age of four, he began to study piano with his parents, and made his debut to perform Bach’s Invention in C Major after nine months. He began to study composition with his father at the age of five, and began to take the training on conducting under his father’s strictly direction, and also started to take photography. At the age of seven, he began to study violin. At the age of five, he presented the 1st Huang Tiange Festival in Beijing, which included his first piano recital titled Hommage à Bartók, first photography exhibition titled Images of Xinjiang, published his first music piece Elegy (Op. 1) and an album Huang Tiange Photographic Works – Images of Xinjiang. Four Tang Poems for soprano and orchestra (Op. 4a) premiered by renowned Chinese soprano Wang Wei and the Huang Tiange Festival Orchestra under the baton of Huang Tiange’s father Huang Qiuyuan. His second photography exhibition titled Hong Kong. At the age of seven, he presented the 3rd Huang Tiange Festival in Ürümqi, Xinjiang. He performed two sold out recitals and his third photography exhibition titled The Ancient Rhythm of Beijing. He premiered his Piano Sonata No. 1 (Op. 5), his mother Lin Jing’s Piano Sonatina and the famous Chinese composer Wang Hua’s suite Children’s Paradise, which was Huang Tiange’s first time to commission a composer to compose a new piece for him, and the piece was dedicated to him. At the age of eight, he presented the 4th Huang Tiange Festival in Philadelphia. He performed Mozart’s two sonatas (K. 310/333), his own sonata and Wang Hua’s suite on the recital and presented his fourth photography exhibition titled Philadelphia. On March, he won the 2013 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, the winning composition is Four Tang Poems for soprano and orchestra (Op. 4a), which was composed when he was six years old. On October 2013, he won the ASCAP Plus Award. Since age seven, Huang Tiange has been invited to perform on the TV shows by Hunan TV, Beijing TV and China Central TV, and invited to perform on the big shows by world-brand such as Audi and others. From a very young age, Huang Tiange was very much influenced by his parents, has a strong love of music and poetry, and has deep interest in fine arts. At the age of three, when heard the premiere recording of Huang Qiuyuan’s Under the Phoenix Tree, he thought the music is good for dance, and started to choreograph a dance for the music and often rehearsed it at home, he said it will be show for the choreographer of the Dance Academy. Huang Tiange’s father, Huang Qiuyuan, is a well-known Chinese composer, conductor, painter and music educator. His mother, Lin Jing, is a well-known Chinese poet, music teacher and editor-in-chief of New Literature journal. Huang Tiange moved to the United States from Beijing on September 2012 with his parents. Now, he lives in New York City.
